Blair has been working in the public engagement field for the past seven years. Most recently, Blair has facilitated the design and implemented Kafe12, a community-wide forum on improving high school completion, and co-designed and implemented the Future Forward process, a 25 year community visioning process for Fort McMurray.
Blair has also contributed his expertise to a wide range of public participation, research, and information gathering projects in the public, private, and not-for profit sectors. Many of these projects have had a strong focus on gathering and analyzing information about stakeholder perceptions in areas such as public engagement processes, special interest needs, corporate processes and attitudes, information systems, and training and evaluation processes. He has worked extensively to develop both print and Web-based survey tools and one of his key contributions to many projects is the design and implementation of Structured Qualitative Analysis databases that facilitate the systematic, rigorous and transparent analysis of qualitative data.
Blair's work in public participation is complemented by his extensive experience as a teacher in the public education system, and his background in technical communications, and technology. He has also instructed courses in Business Communications and Technical Writing & Editing for the University of Calgary, Faculty of Continuing Education, and in Effective Written Communication for the City of Calgary. Blair is an IAP2 (International Association of Public Participation) certified public practitioner, and he is currently a board member for the Wild Rose(Alberta) IAP2 chapter.
